My guess is that the next "true" Animal Crossing game will be on console. I personally prefer handhelds, though. My newest home console is a regular Wii, and I probably won't be able to update for a while. I also like being able to play when I'm not home, since I usually check in with my town while I'm on the bus in the morning.
Though, there are plenty of benefits to console. More memory, more features, etc. I did have a lot of fun with City Folk (haven't played the GameCube Animal Crossing).

I really hope it's on home consoles. As far as i'm concerned, handheld animal crossing work perfectly for on the go play. But my first ac game was on gamecube so naturally I miss home consoles. City Folk felt like a cop out to me as it was exactly like the DS version just with the city area which there wasn't much to do there. Animals also repeat themselves are one sentence until you go through a loading screen and back. I kinda wanna go play it now lol. Now wifi has gone, ac wii is kinda boring like I remember having so much fun selling turnips in others town and wii speak (even though I was shy).
OMG MIMI, PLEASE PLAY THE GAMECUBE VERSION, you'll notice why everyone loves it. So many events, 15 villager limit, massive 3 tier towns (yea that's right, 2 slopes) Music was the best imo. You could also ask villagers for help which is a feature i'm sad they dropped.
I'm worried the next ac will just be mobile or vr something not as good lol

I was just thinking how I decided that I prefer handhelds over home consoles. I have a Wii U that is just sitting on my self collecting dust but if there is an Animal Crossing or a Pokemon game planned to be on a home console in the future than I will most definitely buy it!

Looks like i'm the only one who loves console acs XD imo though we haven't had one since the gamecube (wii was a ds port with some extras). So the series is mostly handheld now.
