So AC:NL got a new update semi-recently, which added some exciting new content and nice fixes. More updates like that would be great. But with the Nintendo Switch on the way, it's entirely possible that there will be a new main-series entry to the Animal Crossing series which will likely replace New Leaf. I'm somewhat undecided. On one hand, I don't like starting a whole new village. I also probably won't be able to buy any new consoles for a while, so it may be some time before I'm able to play any new Animal Crossing games. On the other hand, AC:NL is over four years old and I'm sure that there are a lot of new features that people want. I think Happy Home Designer showed us that there's a lot of territory still relatively unexplored in the main series (like being able to adjust buildings in town, decorating the outsides of houses, etc.) For now I'm saying I'd rather have more updates- there aren't a whole lot of big changes I'm dying to see. However, a new game would definitely be cool. So basically I'd be happy either way.

Well, if that rumour is try about gamecube games coming to the switch we may be seeing ac gc have some new life soon! Personally i love graphical style of that one. I'm ready for a whole new game, I understand what you mean though how it's annoying having to restart and the more I don't town reset the more attached I become to mine...However I love restarting and reseting so i'd be happy for a whole new ac game xD
Unfortunately I don't think it will happen because don't forget about ac mobile...

I think if they do port GC to the switch (like a reboot? omg if they do that I hope they do it to Mario Sunshine and Paper Mario too) then I think they'll keep the NEW new main game on the 3ds.
Even though you're able to carry the Switch with you, I feel like some of their big hitters like the AC series will need to stay on the true handheld versions - or maybe even bring it over to the Switch if it was popular enough on 3ds.

I actually feel like now the switch has had a tremendous start, they WILL make a new ac on the switch. With the portability of it, there's loads of potential for an amazing ac game on it that you can take on the go. I'd still love ac gc on it though xD
