Mario Kart 9 Retro Tracks
So I thought it would be interesting to share the tracks that I personally would like to see returning in Mario Kart 9. I've deliberately left any mario kart 8 track out as it's fresh in all our minds and still new. All the tracks are oens which HAVEN'T been reused at all. Lastly, for those of you who might see this list as pretty gba biased, note i never played super mario circuit. I also made little screenshots for your viewig pleasure.
Boo Lake (GBA)
So I feel like this one has alot of potential and hasn't even lived up to it's name yet. 'Boo lake' yet there wasn't even a lake at all in the whole track! They could easily make an underwater section with creepy ghost boos holding blue candles, and those purple trees you see everywhere looming over the lake.
Shroom Ridge (DS)
This mountain pass style tack is your standard 'toad's turnpike' track. There's a tunnel they could expand and make you be able to drive on the ceiling as well as the ground (gravity). It could also incorporate alot of caves and potentially create alot of shortcuts.
Alphine Pass (MK7)
It hardly needs to be said but the end part of this track where you drive straight up would suit mk8's gravity perfectly, somewhat like shy guy falls. A breezy, open air level which has multiple flying sections would be great if they expanded on the natural parts of the level (forests).
Bowser's Castle (DS)
Reminiscent of the N64 bowser's castle, this level has loads of different sections which can be changed. In order, the entrance could be submerged in water and you drive down into bowser's mouth, up and out past the spikes into a multitude of caves with spinning spikes (lave shooting from the ceiling). Once you reach the top of the ramps, the giant cylinder could be a gravity section followed by a flying section dodging raised platflorms which can be seen near the end.
Snow Land (GBA)
I have an idea similar to rosalina's ice world where the entire of this track could have an underground underwater cave parallel to the actual track. It could be weaving in and out throughout the race and meeting back at the start and end. You could even make it futuristic and have water pipes going above the track so you see submerged drivers above ground level.
Yoshi Desert (GBA)
There always has to be a generic desert level but this one has awesome music in my opinion! Track wise it would be a standard track with little flight or gravity sections. Oasis underwater sections have already been done in dry dry desert so I recommend they introduce an entirely new concept to this track like a massive sandworm which chases all racers throughout the track.
Mushroom City (GC)
There are multiple paths in this track so why not add more? You could have gravity walls leading to upper sections and more secret passages to go through. I miss the wiggler bus most of all!
Wario's Shipyard (3DS)
As an underwater level, this track is already perfect as it is. I feel it could expand a little on the minor flying sections of the track and make it even more fun to dive and re-emerge.
Rainbow Road (GC)
If nothing else, purely for this legendary version of the rainbow road ost (type rainbow road uncle). But this track actually has great ramp sections for gravity and outside the pipe you could have a flying section instead.
Broken Pier (GBA)
This level is pretty creepy in it's own right with very ominous music. I feel like the gaps in the floorboards could lead to other passages or perhaps everytime you drive off the track you go into a flying mode where you have to fly over wind turbines to get back on. If yo ufly too far out of bounds then lakitu can step in.
Wario's Colosseum (GC)
For one section in particular, the massive dome area would be amazing if it was made much bigger and had multiple gravity sections. Perhaps instead instead of once, you could enter it twice in one lap from the bottom and the top where the track ropes around eachother.
Almost made the list
Bowser's Castle (Wii)
This track would of made the list for the awesome ramp jump sections at the end near the bowser statue, however I felt the start was too similar to mario kart 8's twisted mansion (where the ground/walls are moving around)
DK Summit (Wii)
With the amount of trick ramps and halfpipes this level has, it would be perfect for gravity sections. Midway on the way down would be a perfect place to have a flying section as well. The only thing stopping me wanting it back is it was a bit boring originally (despite all the gimmicks).
Wuhu Mountain Loop (3DS)
Whilst this level is pretty fun as a straight path track and has alot of open air flying sections, I can't think of anyway to expand it except for visually. So whislt I do like this level and would be happy to see it again, i'm not dying to see it.
Rainbow Road (DS)
There can't be 2 rainbow road's on this list so I had to remove one! This level is pretty generic overall but there's alot of looping sections which would be perfect as gravity areas. I can't see what to do much more than this though!
